American Cranesbill, Geranium maculatum
Parts used: Root and herb.
Constituents: Tannins 30%.
Actions: Astringent, Anti-hemorrhagic, Vulnerary, Uterine tonic.
Indications:
Diarrhoea, peptic ulcers, dysentery, haemorrhoids, mucous colitis.
Haemorrhoids, bleeding, burns.
Menorrhagia.
Externally as a douche for leucorrhoea, burns and haemorrhoids.
Herbal extract: 20-40mL per week.
Energetics: Drying, sweet, Astringent.
Contraindications: Liver damage, hepatitis, jaundice.
Short-term use only - contains hydrolyzed tannins that cause liver damage with long term use.
