Couch Grass, Elytrigia repens
Parts used: Rhizomes.
Constituents: Antibiotic substances, Mannitol (sugar), Mucilage, Inositol, Gum, Silicic acid, Saponins, Vitamins: A and some B. Minerals: Potassium and iron.
Actions: Diuretic, Detoxicant strong, Demulcent, Cholagogue, Antilithic, Nutritive.
Indications:
Urinary tract, cystitis, nephritis, urethritis, prostatitis, benign prostatic hypertrophy, calculus, oedema, chronic urinary problems; kidney/bladder/prostate (combine bearberry for infections), Lymphadenitis.
Decongestant, softening, dissolving, esp. dryness, irritation in the urinary tract, dissolves kidney stones, soothes congestion, painful dripping urination.
Convalescence and debility.
Metabolic acidosis, anaemia, rickets.
For cystitis take tea every hour.
Herbal extract: 20-50mL per week.
Energetics: Cool, moist, sweet, bland.
Meridians: kidney, bladder, liver, triple burner.
Contraindications: None.
