Crampbark, Viburnum opulus
Parts used: Flowers and the bark of the stem.
Constituents: Bitters, Valeranic acid, Salicosides, Tannins, Hydroquinones.
Minerals: Calcium, potassium, magnesium.
Actions: Spasmolytic, Sedative, Astringent, Vasodilator.
Indications:
Asthma, pertussis, colic, cholecystalgia, IBS, dysphagia, urinary stones, spasmodic muscular cramp.
Sedative, migraine, nervous dyspepsia.
Dysmenorrhoea, infantile enuresis.
Hypertension, uterine dysfunction.
BHP specific, for cramp Ovarian and Uterine pains.
Herbal extract: 5-30mL per week.
Energetics: Bitter, astringent, heating. Dosha: KV- P+.
Meridians: liver, heart, lung, bladder.
Caution: Fresh fruit is poisonous.
