Guaiacum, Guaiacum officinale
Parts used: The heart-wood.
Constituents: Lignans, resins, resin acids.
Actions: Anti-rheumatic, Anti-inflammatory, Alterative, Laxative, Diaphoretic, Diuretic.
Indications:
Chronic rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, esp. with inflammation and pain +Bogbean, Meadowsweet or Celery.
Lubricates joints, locked joints esp. with constipation.
Clears the blood, iris with brown overlay.
Strong taste and smell. Used for syphilitic genes; MS, herpes.
Hot in winter, cold in summer. Doers not feelers.
Herbal extract: 10-30mL per week.
Caution: Gastritis or peptic ulceration due to the high content of resins.
