Mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris
Parts used: Flowering herb.
Constituents: Volatile oil, Sesquiterpene lactone, Flavonoids, Coumarins, Triterpenes, Tannins.
Actions: Emmenagogue, Orexigenic (appetite), Bitter tonic, Choleretic, Stomachic, Anthelmintic, Diaphoretic, Antispasmodic.
Indications:
Anorexia, Indigestion, Colic, Threadworm, Roundworm, Depression, Tension, Convulsions, Epilepsy, all problems around Menstruation, Infertility, oestrogen or progesterone deficiency, placenta retention, liver congestion, urinary tract infection.
BHP specific, for Amenorrhoea and Dysmenorrhoea.
Herbal extract: 10-40mL per week.
Energetics: Bitter, pungent, heating, dry. Dosha: VK- P+.
Meridians: liver, bladder.
Contraindications: Pregnancy, also tends dry up milk supply.
