Parsley, Petroselinum spp.
Parts used: Leaf, dried root and seeds.
Constituents: Volatile oil including a glycoside apiin and starch, Contains precursor to Adrenal-hormones. Vitamins: A, C, B2, Choline. Minerals: potassium, sulphur, sodium.
Actions: Carminative, Laxative, Diuretic, Emmenagogue, Antispasmodic, Expectorant, Anti-rheumatic, Anti-microbial.
Indications:
BHP Specific: Flatulent dyspepsia with intestinal colic, Tormina, dropsy, liver congestion, jaundice.
Cystitis, Dysuria, metabolic acidosis, oedema, Gall stones, Kidney stones.
Oestrogen, promotes menstruation and lactation, amenorrhoea, pms with depression, irritability. Dysmenorrhoea.
Bronchitic cough in the elderly.
Sciatica, muscle pain, bad breath, malabsorption, anorexia, anaemia, myalgia.
Herbal extract: 30-60mL per week.
Energetics: Pungent, bitter, sweet, slightly warming. Dosha: KV- P+.
Meridians: lung, stomach, bladder, liver. (seed: liver, bladder, kidney).
Caution: Do not use during pregnancy in medicinal dosage Do not use parsley if you have a kidney infection.
