Peony, Paeonia lactiflora
Parts used: Root.
Constituents: Monoterpene glycoside; Paeoniflorin, benzoylpaeoniflorin, albiflorin, oxypaeoniflorin and pentagalloyl-glucose, paeonilactones.
Actions: HPO Regulator, Dopaminergic, Anti-androgenic, Immunostimulant, Relaxant mild, Antispasmodic, Anti-inflammatory, Ovarian Tonic, Anti-convulsant, Sedative, Cognition enhancer, Anti-allergic.
Indications:
Reproductive system, Cramps/Spasms, Epilepsy, Endo, Fibroids, PCOD, Oestrogen Modulator, Progesterone, A/S (Muscles, Uterus).
Androgens. Poly cystic ovaries, Menstrual dysfunction, leukorrhoea.
To skeletal muscle, smooth muscle spasm, especially dysmenorrhoea, angina and migraine headaches, muscle cramps, epilepsy.
The formula Kuei Chih Fui Ling Wan uterine fibroids.
To assist memory, nourishes the blood.
Dysentery, dizziness, blurred vision and spontaneous sweating. Often combined with Dong Quai or Licorice.
Herbal extract: 30-60mL per week.
Energetics: slightly Cold, sour, Bitter.
