Pleurisy Root, Asclepias tuberosa
Parts used: Root.
Constituents: Glycosides, Flavonoids; rutin, kaempferol, quercitin, Essential oil.
Actions: Expectorant, Anti-inflammatory, Diaphoretic, Carminative, Cathartic mild, Antispasmodic.
Indications:
Pleurisy, bronchitis, rheumatism, eczema, dry asthma.
BHP Specific: pleurisy.
Pneumonia, influenza.
Diarrhoea.
IBS, dysentery.
Herbal extract: 10-25mL per week.
Energetics: Very bitter, pungent, dry, cooling. Dosha: PK- V+.
Meridians: lung, spleen, stomach, large intestine.
Caution: Large doses may cause diarrhoea and vomiting, and pregnancy.
